Some cool stuff I wouldn't mind having

So.  Hiatus?  A bit.  Whatever.  Here goes the rest of the story!

Well.  The Gods have spoken and it has been determined that I shall be spending the summer in good ol' Williamsburg.  Which... believe it or not was rather relieving.  Given that I haven't been home for more than three weeks straight in two years... I think this could be nice.  (Insert positive sigh here.)  I'll get some things straightened out in my head before senior year, and I'll make some money.  It just sounds good.  Homey.  (Go figure that I chose this Winter as the perfect time to evict myself from my Williamsburg room.  Har har.)

So, now that I am no longer totally flipped out at the idea of pondering Summer activities, that leaves me free to ponder the lovelier bits of the season.  And what are those you ask?  Lemme show ya...

1. A new J. Crew swimsuit such as this...

2. An abundance of sundresses.
(Something that was seriously lacking last summer.)
Check these out!

3. A Herschel Supply Company Heritage Backpack

4. An awesome summer book list.  The last three things I've read have been re-reads.  I am ready to move on!  However, I also think that re-reading Harry Potter is in my near future... (heyooo emotional roller coaster!)

5. BENSIMONS! Hailed by A Cup of Jo as the "French girl's converse" -- and really, who could say no to that?

6. A Busch Gardens pass.  Yup.  I said it.  I mean, if you're going to live that close to the best ice cream sundaes you've ever had in your life... why not go?

7. Marais USA shoes.  All of them.  But these look particularly nice for summer activities.

9.  Tickets to go see this. (YO ma sista Kate... can I come visit you??)

10. The Righteous Brothers/Joni Mitchell/Simon & Garfunkel/ or Bruce Springsteen
stuck in my head most days.

Jens Lekman

This sounds so good to me... I'm leaving for Chicago in the morning to visit my dear darling sister and brother-in-law.  And, this song makes me think of them.  Oh packing at midnight is such a bother.  At least I have Jens, Janelle, and Rihanna to keep me company...

Friday Night at the Drive-in Bingo

In a tiny tiny southern Swedish country town

two acres of field and a gas station
riding on my moped, looking for fun
staring into the blood red sun
on the country road is a boulevard
with neon lights and night open bars
in my jacket a pack of playing cards
just jacks, jokers, and the queen of hearts
my heart is beating, beating like Ringo
as I pull into the drive-in bingo

why do the people in the country wanna look like the people in the city?
when the people in the city aren't the slightest pretty
I want the people in the country to wear flannel shirts and saggy jeans all covered in dirt
I want the people in the country to be open and kind
but most times I've met those with a narrow mind
with a big black dog to bite your behind
if htey ever find out you're not one of their kind
all these thoughts as I open up a zingo
Friday night at the drive-in bingo

so this is what they do out here for fun?
they play bingo and let their engines run?
tonight's jackpot is a pig, hey that's criminal!
G-42! ooh, I'm going diagonal!
I'm gonna gather up a few of my friends
as many fits into an army tent
just bring our savings and a bottle of wine
to the Friday night's reversal of time!
this little south-west village shouldn't cost that much
maybe a handful of silver or a hundred bucks

we could have wild wild parties in that big old lodge and the windmill's perfect for movies and such
we could fake our deaths to get insurance money and take on hippie names
I'd be Snow-fish, you'd be Sunny, we could start a little farm with little white bunnies
just cause watching them copulate is very funny
there's a cow and an ostrich just waiting for you!
a glass of apple cider just waiting for you!
the smell of 1952 just waiting for you!
and all I'm doing here is just waiting for you...
a daydream, I'm caught up in limbo

Hypothetical Question

I tend to have one of these rattling around in my head, and a friend of mine (who particularly likes them) suggested that I put them here.  So, I think I shall...

What would you do if there were no consequences?

Do you ever think about that?
Spend all your money.  Tattoos.  Cigarettes.  Quit.  Leave.  Say what you mean.

The Commander is The Coolest

As I mentioned here, for Christmas, my family and I drew names for stockings.  This year, my Dad (aka The Commander) got my name, and given that this blog is really just a glorified wish list, he decided to base my stocking upon it.  So, every single thing in my stocking was something from an L-House Update.  Absolutely.  Amazing.  Each thing was wrapped and had a number on it, identifying from which list it came.  One of the more thoughtful gifts I've ever received, and those are the best.

L-House Update: 35

An L-House Update...

2. Vintage stamps for modern-day!

3. Doesn't this train make you think of the Polar Express?? (Or, I suppose the Hogwarts Express...)

4. Holly's house is for sale.  Anyone wanna buy it for me?

6. Cake.  Chocolate cake.  That reminds me of Matilda.

7. Meryl.

9. The Mummy exhibit!  Really, just historical exhibits in general.  Nostalgia for fifth grade field trips.
