The Philadelphia Story

Dexter:
Sometimes, for your own sake, Red, I think you should've stuck to me longer.

Tracy:
I thought it was for life, but the nice judge gave me a full pardon.

Like Crazy

So what if all I've done today is eat and watch movie trailers? So what if I'm a total sap and almost cried during this one? (Which, by the way, for all you Ithacans, is playing at Cinemapolis next week! Who will go with me?? I promise I won't cry.  Maybe.) Regardless, this looks pretty.  Like a Blue Valentine for a younger generation. And, who doesn't like to wallow in an aesthetically pleasing depression for a couple of hours?

So aesthetically pleasing!! And what a stellar cast!

What Would You Do

I had a thought the other day.

What would you do if you didn't have to worry about tomorrow?  Not in a morbid, this is the last day you'll be alive way, but in a you don't have to worry about responsibility or convention way...

I wrote a list.  On it are things like:

1. Buy a ukulele and learn how to play it.
2. Buy a ticket to Chicago.
3. Live on my impulses.
4. Go to a tanning bed.
5. Buy a Prada handbag.
6. Say what I'm really thinking.

What do you think would be on your list?

Flower Power

I love stop motion videos.  Wow Martha.  Wow.

Winter Mixin'

On Saturday afternoon/evening, Shay and I stopped here for a few hours in order to work on our NaNoWriMo's.  So naturally, we ended up spending making fabulous Winter Mixes for the car.  Our conversation went something like:

"Okay... Beatles.  Did you get Across the Universe?"
"Yes.  But I haven't gotten Nick Drake yet."
"That's perfect I was just about to toss in Time of No Reply."
"Awesome.  And, how do you feel about Queen?  Winter....or Summer...?"
And so on.

Well ladies and gents, here it is.

L-House Update: 31

An L-House Update...

1.  I want one of these.

2. Aren't these illustrations great??

3.  Cillian Murphy and Leslie Feist in the same picture.

4. "Some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again."
-C.S. Lewis

5. For them beachy waves in non-beachy times...

6. Hahah.... This blog is hilarious.  I mean, let's be honest-- they do have pretty fabulous style.

7.  I just want to walk around their store forever.  I bet is smells like leather and the unfinished wood floors click softly beneath your feet.

8.  Too funny.  I'm glad that Frasier Crane made the list.

9. Speaking of Feist, I am currently listening to a stream of her new album.  Because I am too cheap to buy it.  Take a listen!

10. Alfalfa sprouts are awesome.  Mostly because they look like a golf course green when you open the box.
And, I thought I should just share that with the world.  Hello there, world!

Hey November!

 Things that are awesome today:

Well, it's November, and November rocks.  The name is great, it has fabulous colors, and it includes Thanksgiving (and if you're really eager, November can even involve Christmas music/movies-- which are awesome in their own right, but that is for another post entirely.)

My dearest darlingest roommate-est, Shay, and I have been gleefully awaiting this day for some time.  Perhaps since last February.  Why, you ask?  I'll tell ya:

1. Today is the first official day of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  And, of course, we are both participating.  (Heyyyooo!)  Indeed, we have plans to camp out in some fabulous coffee/bakery/bookstore like place this evening and set about writing our first 1,000-2,000 words.  We are so determined to reach that 50,000 word challenge, that nothing will get in our way!  So, stay tuned for that adventure....

2. Shay and I also swore that we would not turn on the heat in The Cottage until the first of November.  The day is here.  And I am SO glad.  (Last night I slept in a pair of spandex, flannel pajama pants, a sweatshirt, and a giant wool scarf.)  Although, we have now officially learned how to work the wood-burning stove.  (Last night we made s'mores.  Excellent does not begin to describe the experience of making s'mores inside your house on a cold almost-winter-night.)

3. Florence & the Machine came out with a new album today.  Bam.

So, I shall be keeping you updated on the my now heated (literally), wonderfully sound-tracked (hopefully) adventures this month as I plow through the 50,000 word challenge.  It's happening.

PS.  In case you're wondering (I did)  50,000 words is about the size of The Great Gatsby...
